From Charleston

Follow I-64 and I-77 toward Beckley, then turn north on US 19 for Oak Hill, Fayetteville, and Canyon Rim. Charleston's airport is about 70 miles northwest of the park according to the National Park Service, so compare its flights and rental cars with the full drive.

From Charlotte

I-77 carries the trip north through Virginia and into southern West Virginia. Near Beckley, leave the interstate network for US 19 north; the same final corridor passes Oak Hill before reaching downtown Fayetteville and the bridge.

From Pittsburgh

I-79 is the northern interstate approach. US 19 continues south through Summersville toward Fayetteville, putting the bridge and Canyon Rim before downtown for travelers arriving from the north.

From Washington

The interstate route crosses Virginia on I-66, I-81, and I-64 before reaching the Beckley side of the park. US 19 north is the final approach to Fayetteville; allow a separate drive if the trip also includes Sandstone Falls or another southern park district.

Navigate to the visitor center, not a generic park pin

For the bridge exhibits and overlooks, use Canyon Rim Visitor Center, 162 Visitor Center Road, Lansing, WV 25862. The National Park Service warns that generic map results can lead to rough, inaccessible roads elsewhere in this long, narrow park.
